Central Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute Stays Right on the Beat of Cardiac Care Treatment
State-of-the-art imaging system offers enhanced visualization for treating arrhythmia patients.
KISSIMMEE, FL, June 21, 2011 /Medical Products PR News/ -- Central Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute of Osceola Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that patients can now get the benefits of an unprecedented advanced imaging technology used in treating cardiac arrhythmias, commonlyknown as irregular heart rhythms or heartbeat. This is due to our recent acquisition of the newly FDA-cleared Carto(R) 3 Navigation System, from Biosense Webster, Inc., a worldwide leader in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
Naushad Shaik, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist and affiliated with the Institute stated, "The Carto -3 system is the next generation 3D mapping system from Biosense Webster, building on the accuracy of the CARTO System Magnetic navigation system technology. This advanced system allows for accurate visualizations of catheters in the heart, increased mapping speed with FAM (Fast Anatomical Mapping) and a streamlined workflow system." In addition, "the three-dimensional imaging system also helps with activation mapping and geometry creation at the same time - a major advantage." added Chandra Bomma, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist, also affiliated with the Institute.
Carto 3 Navigation System will be especially useful in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, or AFIB. AFIB is the most common type of irregular heart rhythm in the United States, affecting an estimated 5.6 million people* and is increasing due to the rise in the aging population. But Central Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute is up to the challenge.
Usman Siddiqui, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist and team member, adds, "The recent technology of Carto 3 system utilizes, in addition of the GPS system, current-based mapping which we are able to visualize not only catheters with sensor but also catheters without sensors, making mapping and ablation more convenient and safer for the patient."
Imaging with the new Carto(R) 3 System puts Central Florida Cardiac & Vascular Institute at the forefront of being able to visualize and treat nearly every type of arrhythmia. It also reinforces the Institute's commitment to helping the growing pool of arrhythmia patients get fast, effective treatment.
