New Medical iPhone/iPad App Makes it Possible for Medical and Emergency Professionals to Interview Spanish Speaking Patients Anywhere, Anytime

InterLingua Medical Publishing today introduced its first iPhone application that allows users to communicate efficiently, and at a low cost, with Spanish-speaking patients.

REDONDO BEACH, CA, March 28, 2010 /Medical Products PR News/ -- According to US Census, some 37 million Americans five years of age 5 and older —nearly one in eight residents of this country—speak a language other than English at home, which means that hospitals and emergency rooms are often filled with patients that can't communicate with the medical personnel.

InterLingua Medical Publishing today introduced its first iPhone application that allows users to communicate efficiently, and at a low cost, with Spanish-speaking patients.

The Medical Point2 App is an efficient, easy, and —at $.99 cents— cost saving solution intended to bridge the language gap between patients and medical personnel, while, at the same time, reducing the high costs of interpretation services. The application's intuitive interface allows medical and emergency assess the condition of Spanish-speaking patients simply by pointing to questions and answers on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The answers are stored in the application for later transfer to a computer and future reference.

Features of the Medical Point2 App include:

-Questions and answers developed by health professionals.
-Questions used in emergency medical services and to obtain general patient information.
-Easy to browse question menu.
-Capability to store questionnaire summary for future reference.
-Capability to store patient data.
-Total mobility to interview patients anywhere from emergency rooms, outdoors, and hospitals.

"The application's multiple capabilities assist medical personnel to obtain reliable information to improve medical attention and to reduce legal risks associated with miscommunication and delay of care while waiting for interpreters," says Claudia Gallardo, Product Manager for the Medical Point2.

The Medical Point2 App is the latest addition to the popular Medical Point2 line up, which includes medical translation books, card decks, and audio language lessons in 17 languages.
