Barbara Demster to Head Just Associates' Privacy and Security Consulting Services
Barbara Demster, MS, RHIA, CHCQM, has joined Just Associates, Inc. as head of its newly launched Privacy and Security consulting service.
/Medical Products PR News/ - CENTENNIAL, CO, March 01, 2008 - Barbara Demster, MS, RHIA, CHCQM, has joined Just Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in patient data integrity solutions for the Health Information Management (HIM) and Information Technology (IT) markets, as head of its newly launched Privacy and Security consulting service.
"HIPAA regulation are being enforced even more rigorously than ever before," said Beth Haenke Just, MBA, RHIA, CEO and President of Just Associates. "As a leading expert on healthcare privacy and security issues, Barbara has the depth of experience and understanding of these complex regulations necessary to provide our clients with valuable guidance to help ensure compliance."
With more than 25 years of senior management experience in healthcare quality and health information systems, Demster has overseen the implementation of HIPAA privacy and security programs in more than 150 covered entities, including providers, health plans and clearinghouses. Prior to joining Just Associates, she served as senior vice president and chief compliance/privacy officer of a provider corporation with 20,000 employees, and as chief compliance and privacy officer of an information technology consulting firm.
Active in the Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), Demster is Privacy Editor of the HIMSS Toolkit for Managing Information Privacy and Security in Healthcare, chair of the organization's Privacy and Security Steering Committee and co-chair of its Privacy and Security Toolkit Work Group. She is also a member of the AHIMA Privacy and Security Practice Council, and will present "How Technology Influences Data Integrity and Impacts Patient Safety, Privacy and Security" at the organization's 80th Annual Convention in October.
Demster, who holds a Master's degree in health data analysis from St. Louis University, is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and is board certified in Quality Assurance, Utilization Management and Risk Management (CHCQM).
